Eleven-time Austin Music Award winners Quiet Company play anthemic, dynamic, rock music. After an amazing year on the road with festivals including NXNE, CMJ, ACL Fest and more, the band kicked off 2014 writing their highly anticipated new full-length, Transgressor, and recorded it at Orb Recording Studios. The album was produced by Matt Noveskey (Co-Owner of Orb and member of Blue October) and mixed by the legendary Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam, The Cure).

“Producing Quiet Company’s Transgressor was not only an honor, but was a lot of fun to make,” said Matt Noveskey, Co-Owner of Orb. “Orb provided the perfect experience to make an epic full-length album with the artists playing together live as only a truly talented tight-knit band can do. I can’t think of a better way we could have gotten things started at the studio this year.”

“I can’t wait to be back at the Orb,” said Taylor Muse, lead singer of Quiet Company. “Recording Transgressor there was easily the most fun I’ve ever had making music and I can’t think of a better place for the lovely folks at Black Fret to hear the record for the first time.”

Never one to write the same album twice, Transgressor is a departure from anything Quiet Company has recorded before. With its soaring guitar and fuzzed-out bass lines, Transgressor shines with the addition of two new members to the band. Backed by new drummer, Evan Smoker’s pulsing rhythms and Bill Gyrta’s melodic synth lines perfectly complement Taylor Muse’s confessional lyrics and cathartic tenor. Evoking comparisons to Foo Fighters, Pavement and Manchester Orchestra, Quiet Company’s Transgressor will be leading the way as rock makes a return to form in 2014.

“Orb Recording Studios has a deep interest in supporting Austin’s music community, offering invaluable industry expertise and state of the art technology,” said Colin Kendrick, Co-Founder of Black Fret. “They are another example of an Austin company that has stepped up to help Black Fret and our artists represent the very best of Austin. And with Matt Noveskey joining our Black Fret Advisory Board as a nominee mentor this year, we couldn’t be more proud.”

“When Quiet Company and Orb came to us about hosting an event for our Black Fret members we jumped at the chance,” said Matt Ott, Co-Founder of Black Fret. “Black Fret creates cool, intimate music experiences for our members and Orb is nothing if not cool and intimate. The vibe here is incredible and our members are in for an amazing experience to be this up close and personal to the band in the environment in which the music was created. And we are really excited that this experience will be shared with the world via the live stream.”

The August 16 event is the first of many live steaming events to take place at Orb in the coming year. Local and national artists continue to flock to the studios and this summer, IAMDYNAMITE is working on their latest project. Other A-level artists such as Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Erykah Badu & The Cannabinoids, Bizzy Crook and Blue October are on the studio’s client list. This past June, Mix Magazine named Orb “The Best in Class,” and Orb was presented a 2013 AMP Austin Music Industry Award for “Best Recording Studio” earlier this year.

“The past six months have been very busy here at the studio,” said CB Hudson, Co-Owner of Orb. “We feel so blessed that so many talented artists have already made their mark here. We look forward to helping Austin’s continuously growing music community as well as building new relationships with local artists.”

About Black Fret:

Black Fret is a public charity headquartered in Austin whose mission is to empower musicians to create and perform great new music. The organization is an innovative evolution of the age-old symphony patronage model that is focused on supporting popular local music. Together Black Fret’s members will build an endowed institution capable of sustaining more than a million dollars a year in grants to Austin’s artists. Once Black Fret reaches its limited membership cap of 1,333 members, Black Fret’s core program will allow its members to select more than 40 artists each year to receive $25,000 grants on a sustained and ongoing basis. Built around this core, the organization will be able to offer a host of other grant programs to serve the needs of the broader community. Black Fret’s limited group of members will constitute a social network of dynamic friends dedicated to good music, good times and to seeing Austin’s artists prosper. Annual Black Fret member dues are $1,500, breaking down to less than $100 a month after tax. Many members have access to a corporate charitable giving match program (such as offered by Dell and other major employers) that can reduce the monthly cost to less than $50 a month. In return for annual dues members will be rewarded with unprecedented personal access to the city’s top artists through a broad range of private events including monthly shows in intimate venues and an incredible annual gala event named The Black Ball.
