Founder & President, Milam & Co./Marsha Milam Music
Through her promotion firm Milam & Co., Marsha Milam has created and/or produced events that entertain music fans in Fort Worth, Belton, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, El Paso and Albuquerque.
Marsha’s most recent project includes the new Fort Worth Music Festival (formerly Jazz by the Boulevard). She also produces the popular Ranch Bash and books the 8.0 Free Texas Music Series in Fort Worth.
Currently, under the banner of Marsha Milam Music, she presents 300 shows with an annual audience exceeding 100,000 music fans and a production/talent budget of $900,000. One of the music series Marsha currently produces, KGSR’s Unplugged at the Grove, is the longest running free music series in Texas, which she started in 1994 and is now a widely popular series in Austin.
She also books and produces numerous one-off annual events, including “Gardens By Moonlight,” a fundraiser for the San Antonio Botanical Gardens.
Ms. Milam describes herself as a “from-the-ground-up” person. Prior to establishing Milam & Co. in 2000, she, along with Barbara Morgan, co-founded and ran the Austin Film Festival. From 1994-2000, they shepherded AFF from an out-of-the-pocket dream to one of the premiere film festivals in the United States. Participants at AFF over the years have included Johnny Depp, Ron Howard, Sandra Bullock, Dennis Hopper, Robert Altman, Horton Foote, Oliver Stone, and many other film community luminaries from New York to Los Angeles.
In addition to the Austin Film Festival, Ms. Milam created, and for 12 years organized, the annual “Children Giving To Children” holiday parade in Austin, which collects over 30,000 toys each holiday season.
In 1988, she helped to organize a sold-out, SRO, critically-acclaimed two-night concert benefiting the Rhythm and Blues Foundation which starred the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bonnie Raitt, Ruth Brown, and others.
Currently, in addition to her professional duties, Ms. Milam sits on the boards of the Austin Film Festival and HOPE Outdoor Gallery. She is a former board member of the Cultural Alliance District in Fort Worth and the Arthouse (formerly the Texas Fine Arts Association), the oldest arts organization in the state.
