Flora & Fawna broke onto the Austin music scene in mid-2019 with their debut single “Slow Burn”, described as “summoning a deep city groove – rhythmically incessant, icy cool and modern. You can almost hear it echoing through nighttime concrete canyons,” by KUTX’s Jeff McCord. Their self-titled EP followed similarly, combining the catchy pop-centric songwriting of singer Lili Hickman Waldon with the moody grooves and lush production of multi-instrumentalist Mason Ables.
They quickly gained momentum in late 2019, being named KUTX’s “Artist of the Month” for September, and were accepted into SXSW in 2020. The global pandemic put a brief pause on their momentum, but it didn’t stop them from creating. Teaming up with producer/multi-instrumentalist Misha Hercules (Maggie Rogers, Jungle, Kendrick Lamar, Steve Lacy), they began working on their upcoming EP as soon as the world plunged into lockdown. They Have since release three singles, “Long Shot”, “Never Mine” and most recently “Costume Party” which is quickly gaining traction.
