The Watters take the songwriting from Americana, add the energy from Rock n Roll, and the feel from Soul to make Americana Rock & Soul music. They call it Americana Soul.
The last year was very busy and fun for The Watters. In addition to them playing regularly around Austin, they also released their self titled album in June 2018 at the legendary Antone’s. After the release, they toured the southwest and opened for Michael McDonald at the Belly Up in Aspen. They also played the Delgado Music Festival in New Orleans and did a live performance for Paste Magazine in New York City. They ended 2018 as one of four finalists for the John Lennon International Songwriters Competition.
They recently had their first baby in March of 2019, and are learning to adapt to the life of a musician with a little one in tow. They have a new batch of songs and are currently making demos right now in preparation for their next full length album. The vision for the new album is to work with producer Danny Reisch (White Denim, Sheerwater, Marmalakes) at his studio in Lockhart. This year their goal is to procure a manager and/or booking agent to help promote the new record when it is finished and get back out on the road. While they have taken a break from performing to acclimate to their new baby, they a couple shows on the horizon; one for the City of Houston in September opening up for Nakia and the Blues Grifters, and another in Luckenbach opening for Shiny Ribs. They are currently booking for the summer and planning a comeback release in 2020.
